Editorial Policy

The Article is dedicated to creating unique local content within its pages, hiring local, and using local resources when available.

Corrections

The Article credits sources, fact-checks our stories, and makes corrections when errors are discovered.

If you find an error in The Article, please email hello@thearticle.ca, and a correction will be printed in the next issue and applied to online articles.

The Article follows standard journalistic practices and Canadian Press style.

The Article does not show unpublished drafts of articles to sources with an interest in the content.

The Article will also not share its unpublished information with parties outside of The Article, including notes, emails, voice and video recordings.

Content that is paid for by another party will be labelled as sponsored content, or as an advertisement, and in those cases, the content has been approved by an advertiser.

Images created by The Article and its staff also follow standard journalistic standards.

The Article does call for submissions, and those requests can be found on our call for submissions page. Only when items are to be used for publication will the Article contact to inform you.

AI use

The Article does not use AI-generated content in its editorial content, which includes writing and image generation for editorial use.

AI may be used for research and photo processing, but within acceptable journalistic standards.

If an artist being profiled uses AI in their art, it will be clearly labelled in the magazine.

We are still working on and building our policies. We are a new magazine, and if you feel like we need to address something or need more information, let us know at hello@thearticle.ca.

Please be kind, it’s our first year.
