There are so many programs in communities across the Peace Region that are working to make art more accessible.
I wish we could tell you about all of them, but as a small outfit, we don’t have the time or resources to do it all.
In the early stages of planning The Article, we realized it was important that the magazine be accessible to everyone. Even charging $5 could be a barrier to some, so we wanted to ensure they could read what was happening in their community and become inspired to continue their creative journey.
Inside this issue of The Article, you will learn more about what community members and organizations are doing in the Peace Region to ensure that art is accessible.
Providing opportunities to youth bands, creating theatre experiences available to all, and using the healing power of art in free classes.
The Article had its launch party in February at M3M Studios, and the reception blew us away. It was great to see so many familiar faces, as well as some new ones. Melanie and I are so grateful for all your support.
We are working hard to keep developing this magazine and to find supporters who help us keep this dream alive. Every magazine is locally produced and tells a small bit of the story of our region.
Supporting Canadian artists is what we do.
We went through a wave of supporting all things Canada, and we should continue that.
Melanie and I went to a new Canadian movie the other day, only to find we were the only ones in the theatre.
A homegrown original movie with no one supporting it. If you have the chance, watch Nirvana, The Band The Show The Movie. We both laughed so much at its very Canadian humour.
Only days later, we found ourselves at the Grande Prairie Live Theatre for a dress rehearsal for Paint Night. The play had us in tears of sadness, and then, in the next moment, tears of joy.
Paint Night is not shying away from tough conversations happening in our community today, and it’s great that they’re being reflected in our local theatre.
