Spooky season has always been my favourite time to create. It gives me permission to step outside of traditional boudoir and turn the slightly unhinged ideas in my head into something real.
I wanted to take something dark, gritty and intimidating and put women at the centre of it—not as victims, but as the ones you should probably be running from. We brought together a group of incredible women, masks, fake blood, lingerie, weapons and a whole lot of creative chaos to create our own version of Purge night.
But underneath the horror theme, this image represents a lot of what I love about photography. These aren’t professional models. They’re real women with different bodies, personalities and comfort levels who showed up, stepped completely outside of everyday life, and became part of something together.
My work has always been about normalizing normal bodies and showing women that they don’t have to change themselves before they’re worthy of being photographed. Sometimes that looks soft and beautiful. Sometimes it looks vulnerable. And sometimes it looks like twelve women covered in fake blood standing in an alley looking like they might murder you. I happen to love all three.

About the artist
Holly Austin is the photographer and creative mind behind Indulge Boudoir in the Grande Prairie area. While she loves dreaming up bold, elaborate concepts, the heart behind her work has always been much bigger than creating beautiful photographs. Holly is deeply passionate about normalizing normal bodies and helping women see themselves differently through her lens and regularly creates free community group shoots that bring women of different ages, shapes, sizes, and backgrounds together. Holly puts her whole heart into what she creates. Her goal is simple: make art, build community, and remind women that they never need to change their bodies to be worthy of celebrating them.
